What is Cupps Beer Root™?

Craving the Root Beer taste driven by childhood memories, Bryan Cupps wondered why he couldn’t find a root beer that matched his expectations.  After searching and researching far and wide, he discovered that the original brewed and fermented root beers developed and celebrated by the early American colonists had long ago been replaced by a homogeneous set of brands including A&W, Dad’s, Hires, etc., that presented “Root Beer” as just another ordinary flavor of soda.  According to Cupps, “Root Beer should be more than just a flavor; it should have dimension and movement.”  

After three years of creating, mixing recipes, testing production processes, and tasting hundreds of batches of root beer, Cupps finally created Cupps Beer Root™.  You will find that the goodness of real sarsaparilla, cherry bark, and wintergreen, combined with other all-natural ingredients, will satisfy your understanding, love, and nostalgia of authentic root beer.  

Why is Cupps Beer Root™ Special?

Cupps Works™ is the only beverage company that actually brews “Root Beer” and does not make root beer flavored “soda pop”.   BEER is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a carbonated non-alcoholic or a fermented slightly alcoholic beverage with flavoring from roots or other plant parts,” whereas SODA POP is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a sweet drink containing soda water, flavoring, and a sweet syrup”. The beverage industry has hijacked “root beer” and turned it into a flavor and therefore it is no longer what it was created to be.

As the founder of Cupps Works™ and the Brewmaster of the recipes, formulas, and processes of Cupps Beer Root™, Bryan Cupps also crafted a Lite version for the thirsty, calorie-conscious consumers who would like to enjoy Cupps Beer Root™ but with the taste being less sweet and having fewer calories.  Bryan felt that most “Lite” beers taste watery and less full bodied, and most diet sodas have a terrible after-taste but he also did not want to use artificial sweeteners and wanted to stay with all natural ingredients, so he experimented with a myriad of sweeteners before settling on his own recipe and blend of monk fruit sweetener which he specially concocted and tailored to Cupps Lite Beer Root to give just the right amount of sweetness with no after taste.  Since his wife suggested the idea of a lite version, Bryan named it “The Mrs. Cupps Lite Beer Root™.”
